Career Lecture & Consultation for Medical Students “Scientific Methods for Career Success” was held (in Japanese)

On December 19, 2024, a career lecture and consultation session entitled “Scientific Methods for Career Success” was held for medical students at the Kyoto University Medical Plaza on the campus of Kyoto University School of Medicine, co-hosted by the Japan Medical Association and the Kyoto Medical Association.
The lecturer was Dr. Atsushi Kaku (Chief of Internal Medicine, Rakuyo Hospital, Jushokai Medical Corporation), Japan Primary Care Association certified family physician, Fellow of General Medicine and a nationally certified career consultant.

In the lecture, Dr. Kaku reflected on his own career and discussed career theory, providing the audience with the basic concepts related to the future career of physicians, including the rationale behind them. They were also able to experience work to confirm their own career competencies.
During the roundtable discussion over light refreshments that followed, participants engaged in a frank exchange of opinions.
The participants discussed not only the current status of general practitioners and how to gather information when considering working abroad, which had been raised as a question beforehand, but also practical matters such as what to do when a department or content of practice that interests you comes up, how to gather information, and how to find a colleague.

Including partial participation by those who jumped in, 8 medical students from Kyoto University (2 first-year students, 1 fourth-year student, and 5 sixth-year students) and 1 medical student from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine (5th-year student) attended.
Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to attend!

We received two key slides of the lecture, which we will share here.
We are planning to have Dr. Kaku deliver a series of 5 lecture videos (on-demand format) on career theory to career supporters during this school year.
We will let you know when it is ready, so please stay tuned.
