On November 6, 2024, we welcomed Dr. Chie Sotozono, director of the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine Work-Life Balance (WLB) Promotion Center Miyako, Dr. Mitsuho Ueda, Ms. Hiromi Naito, and Ms. Tomoko Fujita , to exchange information on efforts to improve childcare and career support and work-life balance of medical professionals at the two universities. We exchanged information on the efforts of both universities to support childcare and career development, and improve the work-life balance of medical professionals. We also visited the Kyoto University Kids’ Community (KuSuKu), a childcare facility, which opened last December, guided by Mr. Takeshi Yamashita of the Kyoto University Gender Equality Promotion Center.
KuSuKu is not only spacious and versatile, it is also designed with children in mind and is a wonderful space with the warmth of wood everywhere. The facility also offers attractive educational programs that even adults would like to participate in, utilizing Kyoto University’s research resources under the concept of “childcare facility that makes children want to come,” which made me want to bring my children there.
It was a very meaningful opportunity that will lead to further development of activities at both universities.
We would like to continue to deepen cooperation between the two universities and plan to regularly share information and hold joint projects.
