On September 29, November 3, and November 4, 2024, Dr. Ikuno from our center participated in the Qualitative Research Seminar and Workshop in Healthcare – Approaching Scientific Understanding Beyond “Quantitative” Measurements held at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University.
This workshop provided a valuable opportunity, starting with the basics of “What is qualitative research?” and progressing to practical training on SCAT (Steps for Coding and Theorization), an excellent qualitative data analysis method developed in Japan. This rare experience was led by Otani-sensei, the developer of SCAT himself.
Originally a researcher specializing in quantitative research in the field of molecular biology, Dr. Ikuno has, through this experience, been able to embark on qualitative research, which is particularly essential in medical education research.
We extend our gratitude to Otani-sensei, everyone at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University, and all the workshop participants.
